You are invited! SNOW DATE IN EFFECT: GRAND OPENING RESCHEDULED FOR 1/31/19
With the New Year upon us, The Education Foundation of BCPS looks forward to a bright future for our school community. We are just weeks away from the Grand Opening of The Exchangeree, a collaborative resource center for Baltimore County educators, supported by our generous community partners.
On Wednesday, January 30, 2019, from 5:30 to 7:00 p.m. we welcome you to visit this space and learn about the multiple platforms upon which support will be provided.
It all began with an overwhelming response from the community to provide school supplies for students in need, by collecting items to fulfill the Tools for Schools campaign, launched in preparation for the opening day of school back in August of 2018. As a result, the foundation continues to receive a plethora of goods which will be distributed to BCPS teachers throughout the year on a continuous basis. In addition, the purpose of The Exchangeree has evolved as the foundation creates new ways to make use of the space. We are collecting winter accessories for warmth and books for summer reading, as well as providing a community location to conduct meetings, welcome authors and collaborate over future initiatives. In addition, teachers can also exchange items as they retire, or as they transition to different grade levels.
So mark your calendars and join us! BCPS teachers are invited to obtain a free ticket which can be found on Eventbrite. Registration is required. Community members interested in attending are asked to RSVP directly to the foundation by contacting Cindy Whitcomb, at (443) 809-8962 or cwhitcomb@bcps.org .
It will be a fun filled evening as door prizes provided by Patient First and Lakeshore Learning, will be gifted intermittently to BCPS educators (teachers please remember bring your Eventbrite ticket for participation!). We will be honoring our Distinguished Education Champion, Mr. Scott Dorsey, President and CEO of Merritt Companies. Big check presentations from our partners at iFLY Baltimore and State Farm Mutual Insurance will be awarded to the foundation. You will also have a chance to meet and thank the many volunteers who have donated over 1000 service hours towards the launch of this project. Light refreshments will be provided by Baked in Baltimore. Finally, you will be able to experience the space itself as shelves have been stocked in preparation for our first opening day for teachers on February 13, 2019 from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Ample parking is available both in the lot and on the street. For directions, please visit our Web site.
Bring a smile to be captured by our guest photographers Coyle Studios and Maximilian Franz Photography. We look forward to seeing you there!
