About The Exchangeree

Our community recognizes the need to support our teachers and students lacking appropriate school supplies and resources, and has rallied to make a difference through giving to the Tools for School campaign. The response from the community embracing that effort has been inspiring, and to build upon the campaign the Education Foundation has launched an initiative to make donated resources and supplies available to teachers for free year-round through opening a new community resource center called "The Exchangeree."

Through a partnership with the Merritt Companies, The Education Foundation of BCPS is opening a permanent location for teachers throughout the district to obtain much needed schools supplies for their student at a brand new teacher exchange resource center.

The ribbon cutting for THE EXCHANGEREE will be on December 19, 2018. After the ceremony, teachers will have an opportunity to sign up for sessions to visit the location and receive supplies for students in need, year round, through Eventbrite. The link to sign up will be provided on the Foundation’s Web site as well as in the BCPS Bulletin. The Official Grand Opening will be held on Wednesday, January 30 2019.

During the cold winter months, the Foundation has added other new items for community collection. In addition to the Tools for School supply list, a Share the Warmth list has been provided to those who wish to collect hats, gloves, scarves and mittens.

  • FACT: On average, it costs approximately $50.00 in schools supplies to help a child begin the school year with the tools they need to succeed.*
  • FACT: On average, a teacher spends approximately $500 to provide supplies to students in his/her classroom from their own income. **
  • FACT: Everyone can help in one way or another with time, talent or treasure.
