About The Exchangeree
Our community recognizes the need to support our teachers and students lacking appropriate school supplies and resources, and has rallied to make a difference through giving to the Tools for School campaign. The response from the community embracing that effort has been inspiring, and to build upon the campaign the Education Foundation has launched an initiative to make donated resources and supplies available to teachers for free year-round through opening a new community resource center called "The Exchangeree."
Through a partnership with the Merritt Companies, The Education Foundation of BCPS is opening a permanent location for teachers throughout the district to obtain much needed schools supplies for their student at a brand new teacher exchange resource center.
The ribbon cutting for THE EXCHANGEREE was held on December 19, 2018. In attendance were members of the business community and organizations supporting the campaign. To view photos of the event, please visit our Photo Gallery.
Teachers will have an opportunity to sign up for sessions to visit the location and receive supplies for students in need, year round, through Eventbrite. The link to sign up will be provided on the Foundation’s Web site following the Grand Opening, as well as in the BCPS Bulletin.
The Official Grand Opening will be held on Wednesday, January 30 2019. Teachers who would like to attend the Grand Opening are invited to register on-line through Eventbrite. Those who register will have their names added to a drawing for door prizes which will be awarded intermittently throughout the event.
During the cold winter months, the Foundation has added other new items for community collection. In addition to the Tools for School supply list, a Share the Warmth list has been provided to those who wish to collect hats, gloves, scarves and mittens.
