How will you show your blue pride on Team BCPS Day 2016?

Community invited to join in celebration of school system history, pride, and impact

TOWSON, MD— In just a little less than a month, a wave of blue pride will overcome the Baltimore County community and beyond as Baltimore County Public Schools continues to engage more alumni, partners, and community members in Team BCPS Day.

On the next Team BCPS Day, Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016, all members of Team BCPS (current, former and future students, families, staff, volunteers, partners, and supporters of the school system) are encouraged to wear blue and share messages about what Team BCPS means to them.

“When we began Team BCPS Day two years ago,” Superintendent Dallas Dance said, “we thought it would be a fun way to reengage students and staff following winter break and to promote pride in the entire school system, not just individual schools. What we have experienced, however, is that it is also a great way to connect with our business, higher education, faith, and community partners. We are so excited that Team BCPS Day grows every year.”

For Team BCPS Day 2016, BCPS is rallying alumni and neighbors to share class pictures and pictures of classrooms, schools, and school activities from the near and distant past to help celebrate BCPS growth. These photos can be sent to communications@bcps.orgon or before Jan. 14 or shared on Twitter using #BCPSblue. This activity celebrates the newly published “Building the Future” book written by a BCPS employee about the school system’s history. This book is available for purchase through the Education Foundation for BCPS. More information can be found at https://educationfoundationbcps.org/news/2015/09/building-the-future.

Alumni and business partners also are encouraged to submit written or video messages about how and why they are part of and love Team BCPS. These messages also can be sent to communications@bcps.org or shared on Twitter.

On Jan. 14, 2016, as in past years, everyone in the school system and community will be encouraged to wear blue and to use creative means to share their blue pride. On this day, photos, videos, and messages can be shared with BCPS via social media using the hashtag #BCPSblue or via e-mail to communications@bcps.org.  We can’t wait to see you sporting blue, and are excited to see your imaginative representations of Team BCPS throughout the county and beyond!
