21st Century Instructional Initiative Grants

Enhancing, Enriching and Extending Teaching and Learning

The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools, Inc. offers schools the opportunity to apply for up to $2,000 to support instructional projects each school year.  Projects must address an identified need(s) that is aligned with BCPS goals for academics, and key actions as stated in the BCPS Blueprint 2.0:  Our Way Forward and the School Progress Plans.  Recipients awarded project funds will be based on the project’s anticipated contribution to essential knowledge and skills students must have to be successful in life and employment in the 21st Century.  Grant proposals must address at least one of the following instructional focused 21st Century themes:  Financial, Economic, Business and Entrepreneurial Literacy, Environmental Literacy, Arts and Culture, Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM), Health Literacy, Civic Literacy and/or Global Awareness.

On Friday, October 23, 2015, 21st Century Instructional Initiative Grant proposals were received by the foundation headquarters, which included a total of sixty-six proposals from both schools and offices throughout the district (thirty-one elementary schools, ten middle schools, nine high schools and two offices).  Some schools submitted multiple grant proposals.  Proposals were competitively reviewed by a panel of judges from BCPS Curriculum and Instruction Offices, executive directors, supervisors, resource teachers, college and university personnel, and members from our school business community.  Upon completion, The Education Foundation Programs and Allocations Committee reviewed all proposals finalizing the recommendations of the panel of judges.
