The Education Foundation's BEEF/STEM Scholarship Program
Eighteen (18) $1,000.00 BEEF/STEM scholarships are awarded annually to students at their school’s award ceremony at the end of the school year. The scholarship funding focuses on the following areas of BCPS The Compass: Our Pathway to Excellence: Business, Economic, Entrepreneurial, and Financial Literacy (BEEF) and Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The competitive selection process is based on the student essay, academic performance (high school transcript), resume (including service), and 2 letters of reference (one character and one academic).
BCPS students who apply must meet the following eligibility and qualifications:
- Must be a current senior in a Baltimore County Public School
- Must have an unweighted grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or higher
- Must provide verification of acceptance to an accredited two- or four-year college or technical school
- Must submit a resume including record of service
- Must complete the scholarship application and personally write the Scholarship Application Essay
- Must submit two letters of recommendation, one character and one academic reference.
The selection committee will weigh all criteria – but will place more weight on the essay. Those students who offer new applications of their learning that add value to the human experience will be given special consideration. The application will be reviewed by The Education Foundation Scholarships and Allocations Committee or a designated subcommittee using a blind review process. Recipients will be selected and recommended to the Foundation’s Executive Committee and the Board of Directors who will make the final decision.
The Education Foundation's Tools for the Trades Scholarship Program
Twelve (12) $500.00 Tools for the Trades scholarships are awarded annually to students at their school’s award ceremony at the end of the school year. The focus for the 2024-2025 school year is on the following area of BCPS The Compass: Our Pathway to Excellence: Career and Technical Education
The Tools for the Trades Scholarship was created to support students who will be pursuing post-secondary training that leads to industry certifications. Scholarship recipients who are pursuing post-secondary training that leads to industry certifications will have up to $500 to spend toward purchasing tools for their trade(s) (i.e., tool belts, hammers, drills, steel-toed work boots, etc.).
