There’s A New Team in Town
Spring is a season for new beginnings, outdoor activities, and warmer weather. It’s a time to step outside and find your friends for fresh air fun. This year, The Education Foundation of BCPS, Inc., in partnership with The Baseball Warehouse and League of Dreams have joined together to launch a brand-new initiative. It’s called “Let’s Play Ball!”, a community event that includes a softball game between TEAM BCPS administrators and educators for some friendly competition. Darryl L. Williams, Ed.D, Superintendent of Baltimore County Public Schools will be the inaugural “Let’s Play Ball!” Honorary Chair.
The initiative began through a creative discussion proposed by Mr. Joe Mondell, Vice President of Advancement for the foundation. In an effort to celebrate our schools and bring the BCPS community together, the “Let’s Play Ball!” idea grew. Through active discussions with board members, committee members, staff, and community partners the event developed. The day will open with a League of Dreams skills camp and exhibit game with BCPS Allied Sports athletes, followed by the main event, a pleasant, fun filled competition between BCPS administrators and educators Live music and food trucks will also be there adding to the festivities.
Here’s the best part! The teams will be coached by All-Star Major League legend, one being Mike Bordick, Orioles Hall of Fame with a 14 Year Major League Baseball career from 1990-2003. Who will be coaching the other team, will it be the Orioles Bird or….time will tell but be sure to get ready for lot of fun and laughter.
Mark your calendars and get ready to celebrate Baltimore County Public Schools, by cheering on your favorite athletes, administrators, and educators from across the BCPS District representing the East, Central, and West Zones.
