Mission Moment: The Prize Patrol
Ambassadors from The Education Foundation of BCPS, Inc. returned this year with a caravan full of community members and TEAM BCPS participants including Community Superintendent Kregg Cuellar, Administrative Assistant Kathy Barnes, Communications Specialist Brandon Oland, and E. Farrell Maddox, Author of Building the Future. They surprised our BCPS 2018-2019 Teacher/Principals of the Year with baskets of gifts from Education Champions; community members who recognize the time, talent and treasure these educators consistently provide to their classrooms.
First stop was Deer Park Middle Magnet School where Principal, Dr. Kandice Taylor was amazed by the unannounced appearance of the foundation’s ambassadors who rolled out their red carpet at the entrance to her school with baskets of prizes, balloons, a big check, and smiling faces. Next stop was Lyons Mill Elementary School where the Prize Patrol entered Brendan Penn, Teacher of the Year’s room filled with students and colleagues cheering on their hero. The energy was high as they took pride in his accomplishments while being awarded his gifts from the community. The final stop was Cromwell Valley Elementary Magnet, where Principal Catherine Thomas was overwhelmed with her basket of gifts and balloons presented to her by a line of students and teachers, proud to be included in the Prize Patrol’s caravan.
Recognizing the hard work of our educators is the result of the generosity received from Education Champions in our community who believe in supporting those who reach high towards elevated learning. Those who participated in the giving made it possible for the Foundation to deliver something very special to theses talented individuals. The selection process for these celebrated individuals took place on April 25, 2018 at George Washington Carver School of Arts & Technology at the Teacher/Principal of the Year Awards Ceremony.
In the meantime, we would like to thank our Education Champions who provided gifts to our Teacher/Principals of the Year. We are grateful for their support and thank them for their generosity.
