Mission Moment: Celebrating STEM & BEEF Scholars
Capture the moment…. so it will last forever.
On Tuesday, May 15, 2018, parents, educators, community members and siblings joined The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools to celebrate scholars. Recipients of both STEM (Science, Technology, Mathematics & Engineering) and BEEF (Business, Economics, Entrepreneur, & Finance) scholarships were honored as 2018 BCPS Scholars.
The evening opened with a brief welcome from Ms. Deborah Phelps, Executive Director of The Education Foundation of BCPS, followed by the introduction of the Mistress of Ceremonies, Ms. Sarah Caldwell, Director of Development, Institute of Notre Dame and Former Anchor, WBALTV. Her positive words of encouragement carried throughout the event. Mr. John Dinkel of Dinkel Business Development and Former President & Publisher of the Baltimore Business Journal was the Keynote Speaker. Through his reflection, Mr. Dinkel provided insight into the benefits gained through perseverance, hard work, persistence and courage to create a successful career path.
Expressing congratulations, Ms. Verletta White, Interim Superintendent joined the stage sharing an inspirational message, acknowledging the scholars in the room as leaders, innovators, and achievers and invited them to applaud themselves as contributors to TEAM BCPS Proud. The night concluded with a closing by Ms. Deborah Phelps, encouraging everyone in the room to embrace others, live each day with gratitude and to tell their own story. Everyone has a story.
In the words of Jodi Picoult, “A photo says, you were so important to me that I put down everything else to come watch.” Thank you, everyone, who took the time out of their busy day to pay tribute to our scholars.
The Education Foundation of BCPS, Inc. wishes to congratulate the graduating class of 2018. We celebrate you, we wish you wonderful days ahead and invite you to come back and tell us your stories.
Congratulations to The Education Foundation of BCPS, Inc.
