Mission Moment: “Every Page Tells Our Story”
Every so often, a person comes along who contributes to the community and inspires celebration. What was once just a simple walk in the country, became the spur to tell the story of our very own public school system. Author, E. Farrell Maddox did just that. In 1993, as a young man, he and his remarkable grandmother climbed a fence and then a hill to find an abandoned building. It was the schoolhouse she attended as a young child. Flooded with memories and with tears trickling down her cheek, she inspired her grandson, E. Farrell Maddox to write “Building the Future”.
Mr. Maddox not only wrote this book, but dedicated it to The Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools to help raise funds supporting 21st Century Instructional Initiative Grants to schools and post-secondary scholarship opportunities to students within Baltimore County Public Schools.
Join us on May 7th, 2017 from 2PM to 4PM as we celebrate this wonderful publication through casual conversation with guest speakers, Mr. E. Farrell Maddox, Author & retired BCPS Art Supervisor, Dr. Robert Dubel, retired BCPS Superintendent 1976-1992, and Dr. S. Dallas Dance, our current BCPS Superintendent since 2012.
“Building the Future” by Farrell Maddox takes us on a 276 page, full-color commemorative book, showcasing the history of Baltimore County Public Schools in a way that has never been done before.
Master of Ceremonies, Sean McComb of BCPS, National Teacher of the Year 2014 will conduct the conversation with our guest speakers, capturing the essence of Baltimore County Public Schools past, present and future. The discussion will be followed by light refreshments and a book signing by the author.
