Mission Moment: Middleborough STEM Night Series
Step into Spring with the STEM Night Series. Middleborough Elementary School Teachers, Hot Spots Extended Care Programs Inc., and Lakeshore Learning partnered together through a 21st Century Enrichment Grant made available by The Education Foundation, will offer a STEM Night Series taking place in March, April & May.
The series will include a 3rd-5th Grade STEM Night focused on “Forces and Motion”, a PreK-2nd STEM Night focused on the “Engineer and Design” process and a Family Night focused on “STEM Challenges”. Students, families and teachers will document the completion of additional Community STEM Challenges in Lakeshore STEM Journals. These efforts are to promote parent and student understanding, knowledge and engagement of STEM.
The series was launched on Monday, February 12th with Professional Development hosted at Middleborough Elementary. Lakeshore facilitated a dialogue between Hot Spots and MES Teachers about teaching and applying STEM outside of the traditional classroom. Teachers worked together to complete the interactive activities of the upcoming STEM Nights. Another collaborative professional development will occur in April to enhance involvement in May’s culminating Family STEM Night.
