Just One Month Remaining – 2016 Team BCPS Clean Green 15: Litter Challenge Update

Education Foundation Awarded $10,000 Grant from BGE to Support Initiative

A gentle reminder that school communities across Baltimore County have until March 31, 2016 to participate in the third annual Team BCPS Clean Green 15 Litter Challenge.

We encourage all of our schools and their communities to beautify Baltimore County by undertaking the most 15-minute (or longer) litter clean-ups throughout the school year. Schools and supporting community groups that have been participating in the Challenge should have already registered on the Web site at www.bcps.org/teamBCPS/cleanGreen15/ .  If you haven’t registered to date there is still time to visit the Web site and register today and quickly begin your clean-ups.

Recipients of the 21st Century Environmental Literacy grants, from the Education Foundation of Baltimore County Public Schools, will be awarded to schools based on the clean-up activities credited to them as well as other anti-litter education and outreach efforts. This year’s Challenge is scheduled to end March 31, 2016, with grant recipients announced on Earth Day – Friday, April 22, 2016

Community groups may include school-based groups, places of worship, youth groups, civic or community groups, scout troops, sport teams, or other organizations who wish to help clean up their school community. The 2015 Clean Green 15 project saw more than 3,350 volunteers participating in 324 clean-ups that resulted in the removal of 21 tons of litter from school campuses and communities.   Considered a lot – Yes but let’s do better in 2016!

Thanking our sponsors for their generous giving!
