Baltimore County Dome to Go Blue in Support of Public Schools

Kamenetz also encourages citizens to wear blue on January 15

Towson, MD (January 10, 2014) – Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz announced today the lights on the dome of the Historic County Courthouse will be turned blue tonight, tomorrow and Wednesday evenings in support of Baltimore County Public Schools and its new “We Are Team BCPS” campaign.

In addition, the County Executive is asking all County residents and employees to wear blue on Wednesday – Team BCPS Day – to identify themselves as members of Team BCPS.

“The quality and progress of our schools affects everyone who lives or does business in the County,” said Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz. “We are pleased to support the school system’s ‘We Are Team BCPS’ campaign as a way to raise awareness about the school system’s achievements and encourage even greater involvement in our schools.”

BCPS asks Team BCPS members dressed in blue on Team BCPS Day to submit photographs and videos through Facebook and Twitter (@BaltCoPS, #BCPSblue).

The best submissions will appear on the BCPS website, www.bcps.org.

“We will be looking up at that blue dome with pride and looking forward to seeing Team BCPS members in blue across the County and beyond,” said BCPS Superintendent Dr. Dallas Dance. “County government has been a stellar supporter of the We Are Team BCPS launch, and we look forward to introducing additional elements of the campaign as the year progresses. We are most excited that the focus of the campaign is on expanding and strengthening parent, community, and business engagement in our schools.”
