The Education Foundation of BCPS Scholarship Program
Up to three (3) $1,000.00 scholarships are awarded to students who attend BCPS comprehensive high schools in each of the three zones (East, Central and West) within Baltimore County.
The focus for the 2019-2020 scholarship funding will be on the following areas of BCPS Blueprint 2.0: Business, Economic, Entrepreneurial and Financial Literacy (BEEF) and Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). The competitive selection process will be based on student essay, academic performance (high school transcript and SAT/ACT Scores), resume (including service) and two (2) letters of reference (one character reference and one academic reference).
BCPS students who apply must meet the following eligibility and qualification criteria:
- Must be a current senior in a Baltimore County Public School
- A minimum unweighted grade point average of 3.0 or higher and provide a transcript and SAT/ACT Scores
- Provide verification of acceptance to an accredited two- or four-year college
- Complete The Education of Foundation of BPC Scholarship Fund application and personally write the Scholarship Application Essay
The application must be delivered to the student’s high school counselor on or before, Friday, February 28, 2020. Late application will not be accepted. If the deadline is extended for any reason, it will be the decision of The Education Foundation of BCPS, Inc.
The selection committee will weigh all criteria – but will place more weight on the essay. Those students who offer new applications of their learning that add value to the human experience will be given special consideration.
In order to select the scholarship recipients from each zone, the application of the selected candidates from each school will be reviewed by The Education Foundation Scholarships and Grants Committee or a designated subcommittee using a blind review process. Scholarship recipients selected by the Scholarship and Grant Committee will be recommended to the Education Foundation Board of Directors for final approval.
Scholarships will be awarded at individual school’s awards ceremony at the end of the school year. Each recipient will receive a congratulatory letter and a letter to present to the college/university.
After the Recipients are selected, they will be recognized through several mediums including an announcement on the foundation’s web site – see example below.
