5th Annual Back to School event celebrates new school year

Resource fair and backpack giveaway sponsored by Woodlawn High grad Kevin Liles

What:  Featuring educational games, free backpacks, and school supplies, the fifth annual Back to School event is an opportunity for school children of all ages to celebrate the start of a new school year, which begins Wednesday, Aug. 24. Sponsored by the Kevin Liles For A Better Baltimore Foundation, Inc., and co-hosted by BCPS Superintendent Dr. S. Dallas Dance and Baltimore County Executive Kevin Kamenetz, the popular resource fair and backpack giveaway will be held at three different locations across Baltimore County this year and is open to all county students. In addition, the event will include a variety of community resources and children’s activities at each location.

When: Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2016, from 3 to 7 p.m.

Background: Media entrepreneur and Woodlawn High School graduate Kevin Liles began the back-to-school event as a way to help children focus on preparing for the new school year.
